AI Training for Athletic Directors and Coaches

This training is built by someone who has managed a contest schedule and written the email to a parent about playing time. It is built around the actual work, with student-data guardrails in place from the first hour.

Why this exists

The tools get demoed. The job does not get easier.

Athletic directors and coaches are being told to use AI by vendors, by conference keynotes, and increasingly by their own administration. What they get is a product walkthrough. What they need is someone who can show them how it applies to a coaches handbook update, a board report, a parent email they have been avoiding for three days, and a six-week training block.

The other half of the problem is the risk itself. An athletic department handles eligibility records, injury documentation, discipline files, and academic information on minors. Pasting any of that into a free consumer AI account is a real problem, and the guardrails course is where this program deals with it.

Guardrails are not the compliance tax on this program. They are the second course, they are the longest one, and every department leaves with its own written AI use policy in draft.

Every course opens with a job the room already does and already resents. The tool shows up second. Every course includes at least one live demonstration of the AI getting something wrong, because watching it fail is the fastest way to learn what to check before you trust it. And every course ends with something the participant walks out holding: a policy, a prompt library, a finished document.

Who it is for

Built for the people running programs

The curriculum separates administrator and coach material where the work genuinely differs, and keeps it together where it does not.

High School Athletic Directors

Scheduling, handbooks, eligibility paperwork, board reporting, and the parent emails that eat your evenings. This is where the time comes back first.

Club Directors and DOCs

Coach education at scale, registration and family communication, and consistency in how your staff evaluates and documents players.

Head Coaches

Session planning, film workflow, scouting, and individual player feedback. Practical, sport-agnostic, and honest about what the tools cannot do.

College Athletic Departments

Recruiting operations, transfer portal workload, compliance documentation practice, and donor communication across D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO programs.

The curriculum

Eight courses, one spine

The live workshops draw from this eight-course spine, and a workshop is a curated cut of it. The self-paced program in development will cover all eight.

1

AI Foundations for Athletic Leaders

What these tools actually do, where AI is already built into the platforms your department uses, and how to catch it when it confidently invents a rule citation.

2

Guardrails: Student Data, Privacy, and Department AI Policy

FERPA inside an athletic department, the never-paste list, de-identification practice, and a drafting session that sends you home with your own AI use policy.

Flagship module
3

The Administrative Engine

Handbooks, job descriptions and interview sets for sports outside your expertise, board and budget narratives, contest logistics, and meeting follow-up.

4

Communication Without the Blowback

Playing time, cuts, discipline, injury, and crisis messaging. Includes the read-it-back-as-the-parent technique, which is built to be used without the tool once you have the habit.

5

The Coach Toolkit: Practice, Film, and Development

Build a six-week training block, ask better questions of the AI tagging in your video platform, and write player feedback that is specific and defensible.

6

Recruiting and Eligibility Support

Division-level realism across D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO, target lists that hold up, what makes a recruiting email read as the player’s own, and the line you do not cross.

7

Program Visibility and Content

A week of recaps, captions, and newsletter content in about thirty minutes, plus the image and likeness rules that apply when the subjects are minors.

8

Building the Department AI Operating System

Get IT to yes, build a shared prompt library, stand up a department assistant, and leave with a written ninety-day rollout plan with names and dates on it.

How it is delivered

Two ways to train your people

Live workshops are available now. A self-paced program, for staff who cannot be in the room, is in development and is not yet available to buy.

Live Workshops

Instructor-led, on site or virtual, with laptops open and real department work on the table inside the first twenty minutes, using de-identified documents only. No student records, and nothing identifying a minor, goes into an AI tool during the session.

  • Conference session, half day, and full day formats
  • Hands-on labs in every block
  • Separate administrator and coach blocks, run consecutively
  • Half day and full day: your department AI use policy drafted live in the room, and 30 days of follow-up questions by email afterward
  • Half day and full day: the participant workbook and template pack, in production, with the delivery date written into your agreement before you sign
  • Conference session: takeaway cards for every attendee, in production, with the delivery date written into your agreement before you sign, and without the policy draft, the workbook, the template pack, or the email window

Included with the half-day and full-day workshops: your department AI acceptable use policy in draft at the end of the session, and a thirty-day window to email questions as your staff starts using what they learned. The participant workbook and the template pack are in production now, and the completion date for both is written into your engagement agreement before you sign, so nothing here is left as a promise on a web page. The full-day workshop adds the written ninety-day rollout plan and the six core blocks rather than one. The conference session includes participant takeaway cards for every attendee, also in production and dated in your agreement on the same terms, and does not carry the workbook, the template pack, the policy draft, or the email window.

Why FossAI Sports

Enterprise AI experience and an actual sideline

FossAI Sports is the AI practice of Promoted Sports Consultants, which is where the youth and high school sports world already knows to find Bryan.

What this program will not claim

Published here because you should be able to hold us to it.

  • That AI improves win rates, player development outcomes, or recruiting results. There is no credible evidence for any of that and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
  • That the training produces an accredited or state-recognized credential. It does not.
  • A specific hours-saved figure. Any number we publish will come from a client who measured it and agreed to be quoted, or we will not publish one.
  • That any of this replaces coaching judgment, player evaluation, or the relationship with a family. The program is explicit about where AI has no business being.
  • That we can tell you your department is compliant. We teach privacy and compliance practice for educational purposes. Your district counsel signs off, not us.
Common questions

Before you book

Do participants need to know anything about AI beforehand?

No. The program assumes no prior experience and opens with foundations. Experienced participants still get value from the guardrails and policy work, which is the flagship module. In the half-day and full-day workshops it ends with a written department AI use policy in draft.

Is this soccer-specific?

No. Examples run across multiple sports on purpose. The administrative, communication, and compliance material applies to any athletic department. The recruiting course covers division-level realism across D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO in any sport.

What if our district blocks AI tools?

The program is built for that. Course 2 covers the data questions your technology office will ask and how to build a request that gets approved with conditions rather than denied outright.

Does this count for continuing education credit?

Not automatically. Nothing this program issues is an accredited or state-recognized credential. Some state associations accept outside professional development toward their requirements, so check with yours.

Can you deliver this virtually?

The conference session and the half-day workshop both work virtually. The full-day workshop is on site only, because the consecutive administrator and coach breakouts and the policy drafting lab need a room.

Who actually teaches it?

Bryan Fossi delivers every engagement personally, on site and virtual. There are no subcontracted trainers, and the person who built the material is the person in the room.
